HOW TO SLEEP FAST ?

Treating the bedroom as a sanctuary

  1. 1
Keep your bedroom as a sanctuary. This means keeping it clean, free from junk and distractions and fresh. Change the sheets weekly, fluff up the pillows daily and try to get at least a little fresh air circulating through it each day. Having your room as a sleep-only area helps enormously. Yes, it is nice having a quiet den where you can do whatever, but having cool and distracting stuff around as you desperately try to catch some 'Z's is disruptive.
  2. 2
Avoid keeping computers, phones, digital tablets or TVs in your bedroom. These electronic distractions make the bedroom seem like a place of entertainment rather than rest. This will perhaps distract you from focusing on sleep! Worse, they can beep at the most inopportune moments, rousing you from much-needed sleep. If you have just discovered an amazing app or a fantastic new show, it's very doubtful you'll want to put it down. Sometimes you're expecting an indefinite phone call from someone - most phones will have an adjustment that allows certain calls through. A trawl through the settings page will usually find this.
    • If you do want to use such items in the bedroom, place them back outside the bedroom door before sleep. Keep all chargers in a different part of the house to force you to go and plug them in elsewhere.
    • Be sure to stop using them at least an hour before sleep, as they induce arousal, not sleepiness.
  3. 3
Consider removing clocks from your bedroom. If you're a clock watcher who is made even more anxious by seeing the hours that you're not sleeping, or disturbed by the tick, tick, tick sound, remove the clock from your bedroom. This can reduce your anxiety considerably.

Reducing your activity prior to sleep time

  1. 1
Chill before bedtime. Avoid doing anything in the hour leading to sleep time that will keep you over-stimulated. It's not only exercise that can be a sleep thief. Forget watching TV, using a computer or gaming for at least an hour before going to bed. This kind of stimulation tells the brain to stay alert, just when it’s supposed to be winding down for the night.
    • Read rather than watch T.V. or play video games. Reading is a quiet, peaceful activity that leads nicely to a good sleep. It will slow your breathing, relax your muscles, and generally soothe you. And if all else fails, find a textbook to read and open to a particularly dry chapter. Productive and sleep-inducing.
  2. 2
Eat dinner early. This will prevent digestion from interfering with your need to sleep.
  3. 3
As said before, switch any workout routine to the morning. Evening workouts can keep you buzzing into the hours when you ought to be soundly asleep. If you don't have a workout routine, make one! It will make you healthier and help you sleep better at night. Trust me, your Tai Chi or Big-Burn can wait.
  4. 4
Sort out any problems or worries before going to bed instead of worrying about when in bed. Some ways to do this prior to bedtime include:
    • Write to-do lists for the next day.
    • Iron clothing or find work/educational items and pack the night before. Nothing says peace of mind like a packed back and a pre-picked outfit.
    • Write out anything that is bothering you in a journal or on a piece of paper, let those feelings out and then let go of them for the night. If you aren't the writing type, keep a bottle of bubble mix to hand. Before collapsing into bed, blow a bubble as you think of your worries. Then pop it. Repeat until you are at peace with what you will face tomorrow.
    • Write out your response to any anticipated confrontation on paper. Instead of lying in bed working through a million scenarios, knowing you've already come up with a list of comebacks can spare many hours of anxiety. Having a jibe at the ready will hit home to any party.
    • Make a progress note. If you feel doubtful of where you're going with your life, it can be hard to sleep. Did you really spend your entire Saturday afternoon watching soaps? Take an old jar, and every day, each achievement you make should go in. It can be fixing a faucet, building a house of cards, reading that up-hill classic novel you've wanted to finish since forever, or completing a 5,000 word assignment. Anything and everything goes in. At the end of the week, month, year, go through all of the notes, and you'd be amazed at what you've done.

Making use of relaxing activities

  1. 1
Try relaxation methods before bedtime. Activities like massages, gentle stretches, and mental projection can help to restore calm and induce a state of quietness and peace. Winding down is a key element of feeling sleepy.
    • Deep breathing is another method for inducing sleepiness and calm. Count to 3 between inhaling and exhaling - the stale air relaxes your diaphragm.
  2. 2
Take a warm shower. Sometimes a warm shower can relax your body and feel clean. Having warm, clean hands and feet are often an ideal way to ensure a good night's sleep, as the opposite tends to be a guarantee to staying awake!
    • Simply rinse off. There's no need to shampoo but if you prefer you can add a luxurious creme bath. Though make sure that you don't take too long or your skin will get wrinkly.
  3. 3
Drink a relaxing beverage. A warm glass of milk or chamomile tea will put you in the right mood to rest. Having a glass of water at your nightstand during the night works well if you wake up in the middle of the night.
    • A handful of nuts, a banana, or a glass of milk can help by introducing some tryptophan to your body, an amino acid that acts like a natural sedative.

Dimming the lights

  1. 1
Turn down the lights before bedtime. Eliminating all light is the most important thing you can do to fall asleep and stay asleep. Light not only inhibits the production of sleep hormones but also stimulates the body to feel awake and alert. Switch to dimmer lights, turn down overhead lights or even make use of candles safely (stuck down, out of the way, sure to burn themselves out). Your body responds to the reduction of light by producing melatonin, which enhances sleep.[2]
  2. 2
Put on an eye mask. An eye mask can block out annoying light that enters through door and window cracks or light over which you have no control, such as in motel rooms or on road-facing bedrooms. Sometimes lavender eye "pillows" can be more relaxing.
    • For windows that let in too much light, blackout blinds or thick curtains can be purchased to stop the light from coming through at night. These are a sound investment if light has been keeping you awake at night. If escaping cracks put you off, tuck the overhanging fabric onto the windowsill.

Improving comfort

  1. 1
Make yourself comfortable. Avoid tight or uncomfortable clothes like socks and hair bands. And be sure to use the bathroom just before you go to bed; a constant need to pee will prevent you from going to sleep and thoughts of being too tired or cold to get up and go can simply cause you to stay awake even longer!
  2. 2
Adjust your sleeping surface. If your mattress is getting saggy or pokey, flip it over. If it’s too firm, cover it with a foam pad. If you get too hot at night, flip over the pillows. If you have scratchy or uncomfortable sheets or blankets, get new ones. Nothing is more important than getting some rest.
  3. 3
Turn on a white noise generator or a recording of sounds from nature. The constant, low-level sound drowns out other noises that may prevent you from falling asleep.
    • You could also listen to soft, relaxing music. There are specific pieces of music which are thought to aid sleep––do an online search for the many possible types to find one that suits your needs. Make sure the music you choose is relaxing and peaceful.

Adjusting your position

  1. 1
Get in the right sleeping position. Sleep on your side or on your back, using pillows to elevate your head. Sleeping on your stomach requires you to twist your neck sideways and/or upward, which puts strain on your neck and spine.
  2. 2
Adjust your pillow(s) so that your neck is in a straight line. If necessary, position a pillow between your knees to keep your hips in a neutral position. Some people use two pillows, one for their arm and one for their head elevation. Others tuck a selection of pillows around them. Whatever works for you is best.

Calming techniques once in bed

  1. 1
Use a relaxation technique to help quiet your mind and body. (Meditating, brushing your hair, reading, deep breaths, yoga, etc.)
    • Imagine that you're on a big, soft cloud. Feel the texture of the cloud, the weightlessness of your body and the effortlessness of your existence. You may start to get the feeling that you are slowly sinking into your mattress. Left yourself fall - imagine that at the bottom, you fall into a massive trampoline, which sends you soaring higher, right out into space. You suddening have a snug space suit on, and you make touchdown on the moon. Just think weightless.
    • Imagine a warm feeling that relaxes your muscles and joints, starting with your toes and working your way upward to your head. As you go, breathe slowly and deeply, and allow your muscles to relax.
      • Spend extra time on the muscles in your shoulders and face, as these can hold a surprising amount of tension. Once your entire body is relaxed, simply allow yourself to drift through the sky on the cloud and enjoy the scenery.
    • Imagine a number line. It goes on forever, but the numbers beyond 100 and negative 100 are blurry. But there are no negative numbers. Both sides of zero are positive. Start at 100, countdown to zero, and then count back up the other side to 100.
      • Do not try to get the picture perfect. Just acknowledging that the other numbers are blurry is enough. You do not have to visualize the perfect picture.
  2. 2
Think about any calm or serene place that makes you feel relaxed. You may think of a place in nature or think of a spiritual haven, like a church or a temple. Walk through it in your mind, examining the beauty and feeling the awe. Allow yourself to feel as if you're actually there and try to delve deeper into this dreamland. Put your favorite people and family members there. Hopefully it'll soon turn into a real dream for you.
  3. 3
Make up stories in your head. This will open up the creative side of the brain needed for sleep. You could also try telling stories to kids, such as younger siblings or your children, once they have laid down in bed for the night.
    • Make sure it is dark in the room, even if you are telling someone else the story.
  4. 4
Close your eyes, take a deep breath, think of some nice moments from your life, and wipe out your worries.

Dealing with Partner-Caused Problems

  1. 1
Quietly find another room to sleep in for the night.
  2. 2
Discuss the problem with your partner in the morning. Try to find a reasonable solution for both you and your partner.
    • If the problem is snoring, there are some medications to help with that.

HOW TO KISS A GIRL?HOW TO CONVINCE HER TO KISS FIRST TIME? FOLLOW THE METHOD

Setting the Mood

  1. 1
Get her alone. This is probably the most important thing you can do to make your kiss romantic. If you try to kiss a girl in front of your friends, she'll think you're trying to show her off as a trophy. Instead, make it seem like an intimate and special moment by making sure you're alone with her. Pull her away from the pack with these tactics:

    1. Set the mood. Make sure the atmosphere around you is romantic, and half of the hard work is done! Going through the effort to set up an enchanting scene communicates how you feel, as well as making it easier for her to see you in a flattering way. Here's how to do it:
      • Find a softly-lit place. It's probably possible to come off as charming in broad daylight, but it's not easy. Instead, find a setting that has forgiving lighting that conveys a sense of romance. Try these ideas:
      • Sunsets are considered universally romantic, especially if you have a good viewing point
      • If it's a full moon, you could rely on the moonlight — you should still be able to see after your eyes adjust.
      • If it's a rainy day, find shelter under a porch or in a car. The small amount of light filtering through the rain should be shimmery and soft.
      • If it's dark and you're walking her home or dropping her off, rely on streetlights or porch lights for ambient lighting. For extra intimacy, though, stay just barely out of the brightest area.
      • If you're camping or at a bonfire, make use of the flickering firelight! To recreate the look indoors, you can light a few candles.
    2. 3
Keep the conversation focused on her. If you want a kiss any time in the next hour, steer the talk away from anything that she might find disgusting or revolting. A quick review of what to do:

      • Do not talk about:
        • How amazing you think other girls are. Seriously, don't ever bring this up.
        • Everything that's wrong with your life/all the stuff you don't like. Complaining isn't sexy.
        • Stuff that you'd discuss with your guy friends.
        • Bodily functions. Ever.
      • Do talk about:
        • How amazing you think she is. For how to pay a great compliment, keep reading.
        • Her interests and thoughts. If you're ever at a loss for words, ask what she thinks about something or just say you like her hair.
        • Things you two have in common, such as shared experiences or hobbies.
    3. 4
Pay her an enchanting compliment. Everyone loves to be complimented, and girls are no exception. A compliment is the perfect way for you to hint that you want to kiss her, whilemaking her feel beautiful and adored. Here's a quick primer on how to do it:
      • Focus on something you genuinely like about her. If you can, try to make it something that's special and unique about her, compared to other people you know. A compliment that you truly mean will always sound better than something you make up, so choose carefully.
        • Do not build your compliment around physical features such as her butt, her figure, her weight, etc. If you're going to use her looks, stick to her eyes, her hair and her smile; don't venture out of those three areas for now.
      • Think about the phrasing. You could just say, "Hey, I like your smile," but that's not exactly memorable. You want the compliment to be something she remembers the exact wording of, because it made her smile. Here are some examples that are better worded:
        • "Your smile is completely dazzling."
        • "Your laugh is my favorite sound in the world."
        • "Honestly, your eyes are the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
      • Say it in a romantic way. Delivery matters — the nicest compliment in the world can fall flat if you rush or mumble. Try these methods:
        • Lower the tone of your voice slightly. Doing this conveys a sense of intimacy.
        • Lean in slightly when you say it. If you do this, you can also turn down the volume of your voice a bit — another trick that makes the compliment seem private.
        • If you're feeling really brave, you can lean in and whisper it in her ear. Doing this is a good test for whether or not she likes having you that close to her face. If she responds well, you're probably clear to try for a kiss.

    Going in for a Kiss

    1. 1
Test the waters. If you're unsure about whether she wants you to kiss her, try doing a few small touches first. If she seems to like having you in her space, you can move forward. Here are some possible moves, listed from least intense to more intense:

      • Hold her hand. If you're walking next to her and she has her hands at her side, casually grab one. Or, if you're sitting by each other and she doesn't have her arms folded, go for it.
      • Put your arm around her shoulders. No need to make a big deal about it — if she's sitting close to you, go ahead and rest your arm lightly on her shoulders. If she snuggles in closer, you can hold her more firmly.
      • Go in for a hug. Hold it for four or five seconds before letting go. If she seems to like it, you can try moving in for a kiss.
    2. 2
Look for signs that she's interested. Note that you won't be able to pick these up on every girl — some might be really shy and closed off about their feelings, even if they areinterested in a guy. But here are some common signals that you're headed in the right direction:

      • She starts conversations, makes a joke, or otherwise tries to get your attention.
      • She glances at you, and quickly looks away when you see her.
      • She blushes when you talk to her.
      • She bites her lip.
      • She licks her lips a lot. (Not in a sexy, flirty way, but unconsciously, because her lips might dry up if she is nervous).
      • She leans in for more contact whenever you try to touch her.
      • Her breathing and heart rate get faster when you're close.
    3. 3
Break the kiss barrier. If going from a hug to a kiss on the mouth seems like too big of a leap, you can try a "small" kiss first.
      • Slowly raise her hand to your mouth and lightly (that is, absolutely no spit) kiss the back of it. This seems like an old-world and chivalrous gesture, and most girls love it.
      • Kiss her on the cheek. Try not to pucker and "smack" like you would if you were kissing a relative. Instead, keep your lips soft and your pressure light. If you're extra brave, you can angle downward toward the side of her mouth or up toward her ear.
    4. 4
Make eye contact. Before you move in to kiss her, lock eyes. This is a clear signal that you're thinking about kissing her. If she backs away or abruptly changes the subject, hold off on the kiss. If she seems receptive, though, keep moving forward.
    5. 5
Lean in slowly and pause for a second. Move your face closer to hers at a slow pace, so that she has plenty of time to back away. (Tilt your head slightly, opposite of her tilt, otherwise your nose would be in the way.) Stop just before you reach her lips.

      • If she backs away or starts talking, that's a no. Don't take it too hard, and try again another time.
      • If she doesn't move, that probably means you can go ahead and kiss her. (Or better yet, she might move in the last little bit and kiss you.)
    6. 6
Keep your kisses light and soft (at first). This is particularly important if this is your first kiss with this girl — you don't want to seem aggressive or unskilled. Lightly graze your lips over hers, keeping the pressure as soft as possible. After you've done that a few times, shift your focus to gently kissing her lower lip, so that it's between both of yours.
      • Try to avoid smacking as much as possible — the sound can be distracting. If you do notice yourself smacking, you can either make your lips less puckered or swallow some saliva.
    7. 7
Know where to put your hands. Don't just let your hands sit at your sides like limp noodles — use them to make your kiss even better! Here are some good places to put them:

      • On the sides of her face, so that you're cupping her jaw in both of your hands.
      • On the back of her head, so that they're tangled up in her hair.
      • On her shoulders.
      • On her waist.
      • If she seems interested in the kiss but shy or timid, here's a move you can try: use your hands to grab her hands, and put them up on your shoulders. It's a quick and easy way to get her to move in closer, and makes it so that you're the one putting yourself out there and risking rejection — saving her the potential embarrassment.
    8. 8
Try French kissing (optional) -- after she is accepting regular, long kisses. If you're ready to move into a more passionate liplock, you can attempt the French kissing. Gently run the very tip of your tongue over her lower lip a few times. She'll get the message, and open her mouth a bit more, if she's interested.
    9. 9
Take a breather, but do it in a romantic way. As unbelievable as it sounds, you willneed to take a break or stop kissing at some point. Instead of just breaking off abruptly, though, you can do it in a way that seems cute.
      • Pull your lips away, but rest your forehead against hers. Stay there for a few seconds while you catch your breath.
      • Pull away and put your cheek against hers, so that your mouth is next to her ear. (If you want to pay her another compliment or tell her how amazing she is, now's a good time!)
      • Tangle your hands up in hers, pull away, and look into her eyes. You'll probably be grinning anyway but if you're not, smile at her.
    10. 10
Leave off with a nice touch. If you're ending the kiss, try to do so with a gentle caress. Run your fingers through her hair, stroke her cheek with the back of your hand, or kiss the back of her hand. It seems like a small step, doing something like this can help end the kiss on a positive note and get her looking forward to next time
    11. If it's cold outside, that is a great opportunity because then you have an excuse to hold her close to you. While you are holding her, be face to face with her and talk to her while your faces are close to each other.
    12. If she pulls away or wants to stop, do not go for more until later. Take a hint. Recognize that you don't (or no longer) have consent, and be sure to take no for an answer.
    13. Don't try to go in for a French kiss too quickly; sometimes this can startle a girl and make her feel pressured, or she could be a girl who is not comfortable with your tongue in her mouth.
    14. Don't just go for it take your time if she pulls away pull away too.
    15. Be courageous. She's possibly as nervous as you, so some of her signals may indicate that she's closing herself up (like arm folding and looking away) but it could be nerves. Be kind, gentle and thoughtful and go slowly. If she warms to you, it'll become obvious. However, if she says no, she means it; do not insist.
      • It's not just okay to be scared (or nervous), lacking confidence -- expect it: that's why it takes courage (overcoming doubt or fear) to make your first efforts, but later on you'll feel more sure when it's appropriate to be brave. That does not mean that you'll ever "charge" abruptly into an apparent opportunity, but should go slowly until you are ready to test for the acceptance of the young lady by moving in slowly and pleasingly.
    16. If she didn't want to kiss then start to say good things about her, then start to flirt with her, then ask to go some where where no can hear or see you. Then ask her out and if she says yes then go for the kiss.
    17. Kiss gently and with soft lips. Tight lips don't make for a good kiss!
    18. Make yourself as appealing as possible before the kiss. Brush your teeth, floss and use mouthwash before you see her, and keep breath mints handy while you're out. Showering, shaving, and otherwise smelling nice are also essential. Keep your braces clean, if you have them.
    19. If you're looking at her eyes, just make your move and kiss her slowly that will be so romantic.
    20. If you have braces, it is imperative that you keep them clean!
    21. Warnings

      • Remember to tilt your head slightly. Otherwise, your noses will collide, which will definitely create an awkward moment.
      • Don't be sloppy. If she's wiping her face off afterwards, then take it easy next time.
      • If she says no, or that she isn't interested, avoid taking this as a personal affront. It's her choice whether or not to respond and it is not a personal reflection on your worthiness. Sometimes you just won't click, at other times, it may feel overwhelming or too fast for her. Be patient, observant and above all, respect her wishes. Think about how you'd feel if someone started kissing you and you didn't want this to happen.
      • Don't lower your hands too far down if she's not comfortable with it. Put them gently on her hips or stomach, but never on her bottom or torso until you're more intimately acquainted.
